British Airways has extended its recently relaxed IFE restrictions to include former Bmi A321 aircraft.

Last year the carrier launched a new initiative on long-haul services, allowing passengers in World Traveller and World Traveller Plus to use their IFE systems “from the second they reach their seat to the moment they arrive at their destination” (see online news November 27, 2012).

This benefit has now been extended to the carrier’s fleet of seven former Bmi A321 aircraft, serving routes to Tel Aviv, Cairo, Beirut, Amman, Almaty and Baku.

And in this case Club World passengers also benefit, as the premium seats on the two-class A321 aircraft are configured with rear facing IFE screens that don’t fold away, so there’s no requirement for those passengers to close down their IFE systems for arrival.

BA says that the move means that “On a five-hour flight to Cairo or Tel Aviv customers are able to enjoy up to an hour extra in-flight entertainment”.
