Emirates airlines have revealed the largest in-flight television screen in the world, on-board their new aircraft. The new screens, installed in the backs of each seat, are to be implemented across the entire aircraft; however, First Class and Business Class will have even larger seat-back screens.

The upgraded screens will be installed in the airline’s brand new Boeing 777 aircrafts; the airline’s fleet of A380 aircrafts will receive the new television screens from net year. Panasonic and Emirates collaborated to produce the computer system behind the in-flight entertainment screens; First and Business Class passengers will have a selection of music to listen to, television programmes and almost 300 movies available to watch.

The airline had announced last month that 12.1 inch screens will be installed throughout the majority of the aircraft. However, in the Business Class cabin the screens will be 20 inches whilst the First Class cabin will have the widest screens, at 27 inches. Each of the screens has been created to include high-definition display. The new technology marks another first for the airline.

The screens have been created to resemble popular tablets, passengers are able to scroll and swipe their screens in order to access email functions, SMS as well as other functions. Emirates have been recognised for their in-flight entertainment system, winning at the Skytrax awards for the past seven years the title of ‘world’s best entertainment’.
